Advanced noCaptcha & invisible captcha is a free WordPress security plugin that has a solid implementation of the reCaptcha solution. It only loads the assets on the pages where it's required (admin login URLs, and BuddyPress login URLs for instance), it's easy to set up and doesn't paywall the essential features. On sites where I need to use reCaptcha, this is the first plugin I look at using.

so why not use wordfence instead of this?

that way there would be additional support as well
