I’ve been using WHMCS for a while now, and overall it’s pretty solid—it has a huge community, tons of modules/add-ons, and there’s loads of documentation out there if you get stuck. It can feel a bit pricey once you start adding more features or scaling your client base, but it’s one of the most “tried and tested” solutions for hosting billing and automation.
As for WHMLab, I haven’t used it extensively, but from the demos and feedback I’ve seen, it’s a more streamlined product that might be easier on the budget. The downside is it’s not as popular, so finding tutorials, community guides, or third-party integrations might be trickier. Also, you may not get the same level of plugin or theme variety compared to WHMCS.
If your priority is a very robust, well-supported, and widely adopted platform (and you don’t mind the cost), WHMCS is probably still the go-to. If you’re starting out, have a tighter budget, or you just want something simpler, WHMLab could be worth a look.
At the end of the day, it really comes down to which features you absolutely need and how much you want to spend. If you’re on the fence, maybe try the demos or free trials for both and see which interface you prefer—that’s usually what decides it for me!
