How to crack (almost) ANY Chrome Extension using ExtensionPay

So, today, i'll teach you guys how to crack almost ANY Chrome Extension that uses ExtensionPay, this shouldn't be hard, but let's do this anyways.

BACKSTORY

So, i was looking to download some private embedded Vimeo videos, from a course i owned, but i only found one extension that worked, and it costed 3$ A MONTH to use, absolutely gross

So, i learned how to crack it, and it turned into this tutorial, that's all.

REQUIREMENTS

- A Chromium based browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave and others should do)
- Permanent Email (Redirect // Temp Email WON'T WORK!)
- 7-Zip (WinRAR WON'T WORK)
- VSCode // VSCodium
- Basic knowledge of JavaScript
- 20 minutes of your time.

CHECKS

So first, you're gonna need a Chrome extension that uses ExtensionPay, i'll be using this one

You're gonna install it on your browser like usual, and then, try to buy it, if the checkout page looks like the screenshot below, you're good



Now, we are going to prepare for patching

PREPARING

So, we are gonna download the CRX file for the extension
There are many ways to do this, but the easiest one is to use a website like CRXDown
Just paste the Chrome Webstore URL and you're good

Now, we have a CRX file, and we need to extract it, it's actually easier (You need 7-Zip for this)
Right Click >> 7-Zip >> Extract to extension/

Now, we have a folder with the raw JavaScript files, but first, we need a ExtPay account

CREATING AN EXTPAY ACCOUNT

Now, we need an ExtPay API Key, to replace the one from the Extension

First, go to this page, and make a new account, and confirm email

Now, create an extension, any value should be fine, i recommend matching the price and payment type with the extension you're trying to patch



DO NOT CONNECT A STRIPE ACCOUNT, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!

Now, copy the API Key on the string you've got, we will need it later



Now, that we have an API key for this, it's time to start patching the extension

PATCHING

Now, let's go back to the folder we've made

Open VSCode, and open the extracted extension folder
Now, find the Search feature



Now, you're gonna look for "ExtPay"
You should find a result with an API Key, just like the one we made



Now, replace the API Key you find with yours



Now, do Ctrl + S to save the file, and close VSCodium

Now, let's install the extension on your browser

INSTALLING

Now, we need to go to chrome://extensions, and enable Developer Mode on the corner
Now, we need to click on "Load unpacked", and find the extension we saved earlier

Now, we have the extension installed, now we pay for it like normal, but with a twist
You need to log in using the ExtensionPay account you made earlier, just type the Developer Email, and then your password

If all is successful, congratulations, you have a free subscription to the extension you did this for!
