How to be secured using nulled plugins?

Hi, Sorry for the noob question.

I recently got back to developing word press websites and found most top plugin has a subscription model for payments. That was very disappointing for me because that raises the cost for me or my client a lot. So I started looking into nulled plugins and eventually came to this site.

How to ensure that such nulled plugin does not have any malicious code in them? I am not that good to be able to detect such things.

Any guidance is appreciated.

I have downloaded over 100s of nulled plugins, and I have never encountered a problem. However once I had a plugin that took the site down when I activated it, but I think it was because the files was corrupted.
