Shopify or Prestashop?

From my experience I can recommend Shopify to you.
I use Prestashop, because I connected the management of my shops via module with prestashop. The supplier of my management system does not provide me with the module for Shopify.
Prestashop
It needs great hosting, not to mention a VPS.
Each update is always a maybe.
Free I wouldn't say
Shopify is paid monthly true, but for a merchant who doesn't have much experience in hosting, vps, modules, etc ...
You pay your monthly tuition and have zero thoughts

It has some problems, it is not for big shops. For example, I had some problems to create combinations (more than 1 thousand) but it is the only reason.

prestashop, obviously in start it might be difficult but once you get hands-on everything , its too easy to use
I prefer use Prestashop, it have a better comunity.
shopify is good
