What's new
Support for files and archives over 2GiB (JPA file format 1.3). We now support single files and single part backup archives larger than 2GiB as long as you are using a 64-bit version of PHP — the default for the majority of PHP builds out there.New JSON API endpoint, using the Joomla API Application. Joomla 4 includes its own JSON API application. we have created a new endpoint using this application for Akeeba Backup's JSON API. The old endpoint is deprecated and slated for removal in the future.
Disabled deprecated API methods. Some JSON API methods have been deprecated since December 2019. They are now removed completely.
Improve the Schedule Automatic Backups page. The page now explains how you can use Akeeba Remote CLI and has handy buttons to enable the JSON API and front-end backup features if they are not already enabled. No need to dig through pages of options anymore.
