This is all pure speculation.They didn't suggest anything specific. They were just discussing if it was a virus or something similar.
It was also mentioned in those forums, that they have seen the code in other extensions as well.
It was hard to follow because auto translation is not the best, especially for languages like chinese.

If it were a problem, the developers would get into real trouble with their customers.
It is also not a license query because no license is required.
As a customer, I am also allowed to install the extension multiple times.

The code is included in many other extensions so it's something legit - copy protection, license verification.... it doesn't really matter since it's not harmful
