How do I update Prestashop ? (really.)

Hi,
I'm on 1.7.7. In reality I will update when it gets into an official release, not beta, but It will be the first time I update so I would like to know : how to update Prestashop ?
This question may sound really dumb but I repeat, I never did it and I wanna be prepared.

PS : I searched multiple sentences to try to find an answer on the forum but I couldn't, only migrations.

Use the following free official module to auto-update, it should work perfectly fine to update 1.7x to 1.7x, and 1.6.x to 1.6.x, but it might not work to update from 1.6 to 1.7.
Here is the module link, but you'll not find a download button on this page because it is already included in the modules section in the Prestashop back office, search it in the modules section in your Prestashop back-office and install if it is not already installed.

It was always difficult and a transparent update is always a risk because of the low compatibility of the plugins and the CMS itself.
