Purpose of the module:

Since 1st of April of 2018 the databases that PrestaShop uses for all geolocation functions for your store will become obsolete and unsupported by updates.
What does that mean for my store? It means that from that moment on, all visits received on your page may be blocked or incorrectly allowed if you have geolocation restrictions activated.
You can read the official note from MaxMind Inc.:
Our module adds support to PrestaShop 1.5 / 1.6 to work with the new database format (MMDB) in which GeoLite2 updates will be published. PrestaShop 1.7 is also supported, allowing connections from unresolved countries and cronjob updates.
Also allows you to automatically update the databases using a scheduled task, ensuring that you always have the latest data for accuracy and with the advantage of not having to copy files via FTP to your folders.
Don't lose customers for an incorrect detection of their country, in just 3 minutes you can keep up to date your PrestaShop thanks to our module.

(PDF included for installation and details of the module)

Just a quick note that you should download the MaxMind location DB directly from their site every couple of months to avoid unnecessary accuracy loss
