I am not test that but i am think it is not problem to recode this feature. But for my opinion e-commerce platform no need this feature as necessary. For example if you using Google Merchant for Google Shopping you can not add video, you must use only image. Video on products catalog bad for speed page loading and SEO. And....... many situation where video can not be first.

If you want to share you product in social network you can not use video as first. But I'm not test it and may be wrong.

I don't think so that Video on products catalog bad for speed page. Because you can use buttons. When user click to button - open window. But of course it depends what kind of products on website.

I not agree with you.
You can do test by yourself. It's a known fact, youtube build-in code slowed site page. For this solution developer use implement lazy loading youtube content. For example YouTube JS API or jQuery-plugin lazyYT.
