It depends on your background and experience. Prestashop sometimes can be tricky and expensive depending on what you want to do. On the other hand it has a large amount of people creating, testing and giving support. That is the main reason whay I prefere Prestashop to other systems like Magento...

HAve you tried to open the file with a code editor like Notepad++ ? This is what I use in order to edit all kind of html and php files
